Spoiled Rotten Puppies

Kind of like having kids in the house, there are far more dog toys on Christmas morning than anything else. This is a pic of about 2/3 of their stash. (Note the Mommy stash on the corner of the coffee table!)


I've been very busy with crafting the last few days. I made another adult pair of computer gloves for a Christmas present. Then yesterday (Boxing Day for my fellow Canadians) I made this lovely drop-stitch scarf and two teddy bears. I also started a third bear and a pair of mittens to match the scarf.

I feel so accomplished when I get that much done in a day. Especially when I did a little housework, holiday visiting and dog walking, too. A good day in my books.

I'm off to Saskatoon tomorrow to do some Boxing Week Sale stash enhancing. Apparently with all this accomplishment, I now feel I have room for more. (Which, for the record, I do not!)

All the Best of the Season

It's Christmas Eve and I have been knitting away all day. Below are the orange hunting socks I've finished for my sportsman friend. They go with his orange toque, orange jacket and orange gloves.

Beside them are the computer mittens for Zack, still needing the ends tucked in.

I've put up my Christmas tree this year for the first time in five years. It's been in storage. Pretty, isn't it?


Finally, I'm sending out a group hug to the whole world tonight, just like the one my friend, Patricia, got from the dogs on Thursday.

Oh, Oh!

Taking a page from the book of Harlot I went to our school Christmas concert on Monday night, knitting a sock all the way. Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho.

Unfortunately for me, the recipient has bigger feet than I have knit for in the past and I misjudged the amount of yarn I would need to finish. Of course, I had no other skeins and still another two inches to go on the second sock.
(See the tail of the yarn along the bottom of the picture. Danger, danger!)


The good news is that I had to go into Meadow Lake yesterday to take Molly to the vet. The one and only yarn/fabric store there carries this yarn and I was able to pick up another ball. Yeah!


The pair has been successfully completed and wrapped for gift giving. Yahoo! Now onto the next gifting pair. Pictures forthcoming as sock progresses.

A little Christmas confession - while in the shop yesterday, I did a little stash enhancing.

Love that sock yarn! Going to try to get another pair made for me over the holidays. I could seriously get used to this knitting for myself thing! Have I created a monster?

The Smell of Christmas

The smell of my childhood Christmases is the smell of shortbread. I guess it must be nearly here because my house is filled with the scent of baking sugar, butter and flour.

A Busy Day At School

Socks made from the Lorna's Laces Bullfrogs and Butterflies in Glenwood. I bought the yarn in the summer and have finally made these for me. Should be done this afternoon and I can snuggle up in them in front of It's A Wonderful Life on the tv tonight.

Kristmas Knitting by Katie

I may not be doing a lot of knitting but one of my students is very dedicated. This is Katie and she does not have to be at school today. She has been recommended in all of her classes so she doesn't even have to write exams.

Yet here she is - knitting away on a day when she doesn't even have to be here. Could I be more proud? Nope.

What?!! Again?!!!

I know. I know. I am sucking at the whole blogging, picture taking thingy.

I made pajamas. They're cute. They're for my newphew for Christmas. They're in the mail. There are no pictures. (She shrugs, palms facing upwards,helpless look on face.)

Hopefully someone will send photos once he's wearing them and that would be even better than having them posed on the kitchen/craft table.

In the meantime, have I shown you a picture of my cute dogs lately? (Yes, it's rhetorical.)


I'm thinking of changing the name of this blog to The Crazy Dog Lady Who Sometimes Makes Things.

Miss Molly

In an unbelievably gloomy week, there has come an incredible ray of sunshine and her name is Molly.


She is the newest member of our mostly-furry family and she is a joy to have with us. She comes from the Prince Albert SPCA, just like Emmett, and she has already fit in beautifully. They play the same, walk the same, eat the same, talk the same. It's so darned cute. I can't believe how easy it is to have her around.

Here the boys and she are making friends and doing a little doggy disco.


Of course, the boys showed her around all the important spots, er, spot, in the house.

I'd just like to remind everyone that your local animal shelter needs food and blankets at Christmas, just like the rest of the year. If you're feeling generous, please think of them and send some joy their way.

What To Say

I haven't been posting much this fall and early winter. One thing after another has been eating up my time, whether I've been worried about something or working too hard.

This week cancer has touched our family in a big way. It doesn't affect my daily life but I am spending some sleepless nights trying to do anything that keeps me from thinking about it. Knitting is not one of them.

Please forgive if I leave a bit of a gap here. I'll try to get back on track soon.
