This one is very appropriate today as I show a pic of my new house in Regina.

Isn't she a beauty?! I hope I look this good at 100 years old!

I can hardly express how wonderful this house feels to me. She's old and she's quirky and she needs a lot of work to get her back to her former glory (Hey! The same could be said of me! LOL!) but I love her! I can't wait to get dug in with paint and renos and all that.

More importantly, I can't wait to fill the rooms with friends and family! Come on over, pick up a paint brush, stay for supper and toast the future!

Apparently it's a very comfortable place for some furries I know, too!

Here's Molly, Laddie and Emmett relaxing on the new sofa like they own the place! Definitely no adjustment time needed here, thank goodness for that!

On another note, Happy Birthday to Maegan!!! I can't believe you're 26! As I look back at the days when I used to change your diapers and give you baths, I've decided that you must stop having birthdays now because you're making me feel old!!!!

Moving Day

One more sleep until the movers get here. It'll be an early start tomorrow and I still have a few things I need to do, so I probably won't get to bed very soon tonight.



Dayton wants to make sure he doesn't get left behind so he's been sleeping on top of boxes all week.


All in all, the babies don't seem to bothered by the latest upheaval.

I, on the other hand, will be very happy to have this all done. By tomorrow night, I'll be in the new house and, hopefully, eating sushi! (At least that's the plan!)

Thankful For Small Mercies

Like mail. Something I learned to appreciate so greatly when I lived in remote areas.

In northern Saskatchewan, we only got mail on Tuesdays and Fridays so going to the post office was a community event. This shared ritual was made even better if there was a parcel in my box.

So now, during this time of great stress and more packing than this tired forty-year-old person should have to do in one year, I am thankful for the mail. This week, it brought a parcel from Chapters which included this:

I am excited by the prospect of sweaters that do not require seaming. I dislike any projects that need to be seamed. I am not good at it. I have never found a way to get good at it. I think my seaming ruins a perfectly good knitted project. Hence, I haven't even attempted a sweater in a couple of years or more. Also hence, more in-the-round knitting than anything else.

This book offers more than just top-down sweater patterns, some of which are terribly cute. It also provides instructions on how to adapt existing patterns to this method and tips for designing your own. Very cool.

Once I get moved, I would like to try one out. Although it is very tempting to whip out some needles and yarn as I write this, I am running out of packing time so must resist.

The movers will be here on Thursday morning at 8:30am. As it is, I'm packing several boxes then knitting a few rounds on a sock. It helps to centre me for more packing. At least that's my story!

Speaking of which, I guess I better get a few more boxes filled up!

Knitting Content

I have actually been knitting in the last two weeks. In addition to the tiny bit of quilting I did on the weekend, it might even qualify me as a crafter again. We may have to check the rule book on that one, though!

I finally finished a pair of socks last week in time for my friend's birthday. And this week I finished another as a good-bye gift for Cindy.

These colours are so great for fall. Also, she is one of those people who is always freezing so I hope these will keep her feet warm over the winter.

On the moving front, my new house in Regina will be all mine on Monday so I'm in the throes of packing again! Blech! This time, though, I've hired movers and they'll be here next Thursday. And I am looking forward to living in a city again, believe it or not!

For those of you who have been asking, the new job here was not a good fit, really not good. And I was not prepared to stay at a job that I had to fight with myself to go to every day. Life is just too short to be miserable on purpose.

Being such a small community, there aren't a lot of other jobs here that I was going to be able to do and still earn enough money to pay bills - not without working two or three different ones. As much as I like it here, it is not feasible to stay.

I'm sure going to miss all the great people I have connected with, though, and the next week is crazy with dinners and such to bid farewell to everyone. And for some reason, I just can't convince them all to come with me! Go figure!

So that's the scoop around here! I think I must be feeling better since I've been crafting and blogging about crafting. Definitely a good sign!

One final note - today is my Mom's 58th birthday. So everybody think Happy Birthday thoughts for her please!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It was a great day around here yesterday! And I finally bought another battery recharger for the camera so there is photographic evidence. Yay!

First, my friend, Cindy, needed some help figuring out her new sewing machine.


She was zipping along in no time. (Don't quote me on this but I'm thinking we might get another quilting convert around here, sooner than later. )

I even got to do a little stitching myself, which hasn't happened in way too long.

Later in the day, we started preparations for our self-styled Thanksgiving feast.


No turkey in site but, wow, did we eat!

Smoked salmon, roasted garlic, french baguette, warm brie, crab-stuffed mushroom caps, garlic-stuffed olives, risotto-stuffed peppers with asparagus, tomato & bocconcini salad, humus, and chocolate turtle cheesecake for dessert.

Way too much food for just the two of us but we had so much fun cooking and eating, we're going to do it again very soon!
