Mexico, Here She Comes

My friend, Janet, is going to Mexico for a month. I decided to use my quilt school project from last week to make her a little gift for her travels.

This yummy quilty bag took only a day to make from a jelly roll and will be the basis for a few Christmas gifts, I think.

More importantly, Janet loved it. She really needed a new travel bag. So that is the best bonus!

Happy Tuesday, M

Halloween Festivities At The Office

Friday was a great day at work.

It started about a month ago when my friend, Katharyn, challenged me to a pumpkin decorating contest. I exploded it to include my whole office and I have to say that, despite a nervous start, my coworkers really stepped up to the plate.

The ultimate winner was an impressive diarama from Erin and Daniel. Can you figure out what it is?

Here's another shot of it. Did you get it? That's right - Willy Wonka and the kids at the chocolate factory. How crazy is that?!!!

Every little piece of grass is candy. The kids and Willy Wonka are tiny pumpkins. They melted chocolate for the chocolate river. It took them all week but it was such an amazing job. Plus they're office smelled delicious all day.

There was also a special mention for Danielle, too, because her pumpkin was just so darned gorgeous. What a cutie, hey? I loved it.

I have to tell you that everybody that came to work on Friday was in costume. It was a sight to behold. Apparently it's the first time they've ever done such a thing. Gotta love that.
I'm the punkin in the orange shirt there. That's right - I said a PUNKin - a punk rock pumpkin. Such fun.

Now what can I plan for Valentine's day? :)

Happy weekend, M
