Pumpkin Madness

First we start with one of those white pumpkins and we add a little purple paint.

A few more coats and it's starting to look the right shade.


Then, before you know it, we have one, ONE, crazy counting vampire pumpkin, bwahahahahah!

Don't you just love his ascot?!

And in case you weren't impressed by my pumpkin decorating skills, here's a pumpkin quilt, too.

Trick or Treat?

In one of my quilting classes this month, I decided to do a Halloween-themed piece. The class was called "Through My Window".

I made my window looking in on a Halloween party, instead of out onto a pastoral scene as recommended by the pattern.

I think it's so stinking cute. And the outer border/back fabric glows in the dark! Woo hoo!

How Could I Not?

Despite all the crazy busy goings on around here these days, I had to take a moment to acknowledge the most amazing gift from the dearest friend.

I received a gorgeous prayer shawl in yesterday's mail from the lovely Katharyn.

It's all lacy and pretty and pretty and lacy. I just love it - colour, pattern, shape, everything. (I wish I could get a picture of me wearing it because it fits perfectly and drapes so nicely.) Katharyn has pictures of it over here so you can see it adorning her instead of my coffee table.

She made it to help heal my spine. I've had so many troubles with it the last couple of years and it's finally on the mend. It will no doubt get even better now that I have a lovely knitted hug to wrap myself in every day.

Thank you, Katharyn. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Oops!

I promise I'm not ignoring you or the blog. It's just that life has been so busy lately that I barely have time to live it all, never mind write about it. Will hopefully find time to catch up soon.

Same and Different

In quilt school, we learned all about how the same block can look very different for each person. It's a concept many of us learn in kindergarten but now we get to learn it again.

Here's a snap of all the grads of the class plus our instructor, Cheryl.

You can see that everybody is in a different stage of completion, depending on who did their homework. I will sheepishly tell you that I am not one of the homework people.

And here are all the different blocks by the different participants.
