Kicking Off Our Booties

To ring in 2010!

These little cuties come from Zoe Mellor's 50 Baby Booties to knit. I revisit this book again and again, and I'll be making even more tiny footwear in 2010 as there are two new babies on the way for friends and family.

Have to say that 2009 will forever be my favourite year, thanks to my favourite young man. Hard to believe that this time last year, he was just a twinkle in his daddy's eye, as they say.

But I'm not sad to let this year go as we have so very much to look forward to in the coming 12 months.

Quilty Love

I made this quilt ages ago. I got it quilted and bound in the last days of my pregnancy. It was part of that whole finishing obsession I had going on. (Good grief, but I do dislike being so obvious sometimes! lol)

I asked David to hold up the quilt so I could take a picture of it. This is the result.


You see, he didn't want to give up holding Callum in order to hold up the quilt. Hard to argue with that.

You can see the backing fabric and binding in this photo, as long as you can look past the adorable pic of father and son. (I may be a little biased on this one.)

We are still managing to get a row or two knit around here each day. It's a slow process but immensely satisfying.

My Men In Knits

These two are so in love with each other in this pic. And when they're wearing my handknits, I'm extra in love with them. It's a knitter's family dream. Gush.



Daddy's wearing the Thorpe hat in Knit Picks Cadena, colour Coal. And the Noro striped scarf from skeins whose colour bands I've long since misplaced.

Baby is wearing an earflap hat that I made up from several different patterns I've used over the years. It starts at the top with stocking stitch and works to a garter stitch brim and earflaps with long tails, all in baby size. I used a Knit Picks yarn that I'm also missing the ball band for, but I do know it was knit on 3.25mm dpns.

So there you have it. Knitting content. Woo and hoo.

A sudden appearance of copious amounts of snow in our part of the world is inspiring me to knit even more. We'll see what happens when and if inspiration meets action.
